The Princess Bride

We've got another Art House staff member's birthday coming up this month! Nicole Whiteman is going to be one year older very soon, and she will be celebrating at the historic Babcock Theatre with a special screening of one of her favorites, Rob Reiner's fantastic 1987 love story for the ages, THE PRINCESS BRIDE! It's truly a no-brainer why Nicole went with this film, as it is virtually impossible to like something so charming and well executed! Based on William Goldman's 1973 novel of the same name, this film tells a fantasy story like no other as Peter Falk narrates the book to his sick grandson, Fred Savage, on a wintery day, cutely dashing back and forth between the magical world of the old book and reality as Columbo and his grandson discuss the story! Princess Buttercup loves her farm boy, Westley, but when he is presumed dead, she is arranged to marry a royal man she does not love and proceeds to be kidnapped by men aiming to start a war. A black-clad figure follows in hot pursuit, hoping to rescue Buttercup. To ensure her safety, this mysterious figure will have to take on skilled swordsmen, a giant, poison, rodents of unusual size, death, and resurrection! It's an all-time great love story! Come check it out and make sure to wish Nicole a happy birthday!
