Trailhead Veterinary Services

At Trailhead Veterinary Services, the work is all about pets and the people who love them. Founded by Dr. Kristopher Norris and Tiffany Smith, the clinic was created with a simple mission: affordable, expert care delivered with heart. In a world where big corporate clinics can sometimes feel rushed and disconnected, Trailhead brings things back to basics with genuine relationships, honest advice, and a whole lot of love for the animals who walk through their doors.

Dr. Norris and Tiffany aren’t new to this. With nearly 14 years of combined experience, they’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. Before coming home to Montana, Dr. Norris trained at a high-volume orthopedic clinic in Colorado, performing thousands of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. Now, he’s one of only a few veterinarians in Billings offering advanced orthopedic procedures, and at prices that don’t break the bank.

What sets Trailhead apart isn’t just the top-notch care, it’s the atmosphere. The clinic has the equipment and expertise you’d expect, but the vibe is more “boutique” than “big box.” It’s warm, welcoming, and relaxed, a place designed to put both pets and people at ease. Yes, there are private exam rooms for comfort, but clients are also welcome to step into the treatment area if they’d like. That openness helps melt away some of the nerves that usually come with a trip to the vet.

For Dr. Norris and Tiffany, the best part of running Trailhead is the mix of pets and people. They love the puppy snuggles and cat cuddles, but just as rewarding is building connections with the families who come in. One of the biggest compliments they get is when someone brings in one pet for a procedure and then comes back with all their other animals, too it’s a true sign of trust.

Trailhead is also big on giving back. Tiffany’s background in animal welfare plays a huge role in their partnerships with local nonprofits and rescues like Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, Tails as Old as Time, Rez Dog Rescue, and Help for Homeless Pets. They provide discounted services to help rescue animals heal, thrive, and find their forever families. For the Trailhead team, being part of those success stories is one of the most meaningful parts of the job.

Looking ahead, Trailhead is excited to keep growing and reaching more pets and their people. They want the community to know there’s a new, locally owned clinic in Billings that offers everything from routine checkups to advanced surgeries; with a focus on quality, compassion, and affordability. More than anything, they want every client to feel cared for, not just as a customer, but as part of the Trailhead family.
