The RMC Department of Theatre Arts presents Plautus' THE POT OF GOLD, November 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9 at 7:30PM each night at Billings Studio Theatre.
The production tells the story of a miserly old man who discovers a pot of gold and immediately becomes consumed with a greedy desire to protect it. As his greed spirals out of control, comedy ensues involving his daughter, a well-intentioned young suitor, a trio of sly but foolish cooks, a slave yearning for freedom, and a little too nice next door neighbor. The script showcases Plautus’s masterful grip of humor and social commentary, but also addresses the timeless nature of human desires.
While The Pot of Gold was written over two thousand years ago, it invites the audience to reflect on the absurdities of greed and the lengths people will go to obtain wealth. In an unintended twist, the play’s ending has BEEN LOST TO THE AGES! But have no fear, RMC Theatre Arts has provided their own interpretation(s) for your edification! Join us for an adventurous evening filled with laughs, love, and a critical look at the follies of human nature.
The Pot of Gold features Gwynivere Cusak, Cole Kirchen, Joyce Giddis, Itzu Romero, Cooper Smith, Bay Sandefur, Cayana Adams, Daytona Nielsen, Rosalyn Visser and Tim Jones. This IS a Roman comedy, so be prepared for adult themes and situations.
