The Billings Symphony Chorale Announces 2021-2022 Auditions
aug 23 & 30, 2021
Auditions for the Billings Symphony Chorale will take place Monday, August 23, 2021, and Monday, August 30, 2021. By advance reservation only, auditions on each date will run from approximately 5:50–6:30 PM; the 10-minute time slots will be scheduled in reverse order on a first-come basis. To schedule an audition time or for more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Chorale Director Dr. Steven Hart invites vocalists ages 15 or older to audition. Each person should bring a solo to perform (classical, Broadway, opera, etc.) and be prepared to sight-read a choral score. An accompanist will be provided; please bring 2 copies of the solo vocal material.
The Chorale’s challenging vocal repertoire this season includes works by Bach, Mozart, and Dan Forrest at November’s “Balance” concert at the St. Patrick Co-Cathedral, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in April 2022 with the Billings Symphony and four guest vocalists on the newly renovated Alberta Bair Theater stage.
Now in his 15th season as the Billings Symphony Chorale Director, Dr. Hart is a music professor at Rocky Mountain College (RMC) in Billings. He conducts the RMC choral ensembles and teaches conducting, vocal pedagogy and private voice, while maintaining an active schedule as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator.
