Symphony In the Park

At Pioneer Park

Bring your blanket or lawn chair and relax to an evening of music under our big Montana sky. Come early to this family-centered event and enjoy the popular Kids’ Conducting Contest, an instrument “petting zoo,” face painting, ice cream, and various beverage vendors and food trucks!

Admission is free to our largest outreach of the season (donations encouraged)! You'll want to come early to stake your claim on the grass in Pioneer Park, and to take advantage of all the happenings--and food trucks!--before the Billings Symphony's program begins at 7PM.  The evening concert is approximately 90 minutes long, including intermission.

Bring with you: Blankets, lawn/camping chairs, bug spray, sunscreen.

Leave at home: No tents, canopies, beach tents, umbrellas are not allowed at Symphony in the Park so everyone can enjoy an unobstructed view. Pioneer Park has trees for shade or you may enjoy seating under our shade tent for only $15. You may purchase wristbands online (click on BUY TICKETS above),at the Billings Symphony office in advance or day of at the event (cash only). Seating is limited and is first come, first served.

  • Instrument Petting Zoo open 6–6:45PM
  • Ever wonder how much breath it takes to play a tuba or flute? Or how a violin or cello bow feels in your hand? Thanks to Eckroth Music, you can experience instruments up close. This free hands-on event is fun for the whole family!

6:45PM

  • Kids Conducting Contest
  • This annual tradition has become a favorite for the young and the young at heart. Children are invited to come down to the front of the stage at 6:45PM to conduct a march by John Philip Sousa. Guest judges will select four finalists who then vie for a chance to conduct the orchestra on Sousa’s The Liberty Bell March. We’re excited to welcome back all our budding musicians!
