This May, all month long, we are once again putting on our anticipated annual series, MUSICAL MAY, at the historic Babcock Theatre, and one of the films we are excited to play is Frank Oz's marvelous 1986 horror-comedy classic, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, screening Saturday, May 10th! This fascinating film adapts the musical stage play inspired by the 1960 cult classic Roger Corman film of the same name, turning it into an even more insane film full of incredibly catchy songs and extremely memorable moments! The film's cinematography has a charming dream-like quality, and every actor gives their performance their all, with each character having their own unique, hyperbolic ways of expressing themselves. What's more, this film legitimately has some of the very best technical effects to ever be put on film, even to this day! LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is a musical unlike any other, perfectly blending the genres of horror and comedy, making for a real special viewing experience you don't want to miss!

Rick Moranis stars as Seymour Krelborn, a nerd figure lacking confidence who works at Mr. Mushnik's flower shop in the impoverished Skid Row. Seymour has crush on his co-worker Audrey, who is in a relationship with an abusive biker dentist, and he hopes to impress her with a strange plant he has been raising. The rapid growth and unusual appearance of the plant bring in major business for Mr. Mushnik, but Seymour is the only one aware that his new plant, Audrey II, has an insatiable taste for human blood!
