Labor Day Weekend 2025: Your Last Taste of Summer 

Labor Day weekend in Billings is that final burst of summer fun before school kicks back in. It’s a time for classic cars, live theatre, art fairs, farmers markets, and even a little cinematic magic. And while these events are big standouts, they’re only part of what’s happening in and around town. Billings is full of family-friendly businesses, activities, and attractions from indoor play spaces to museums, making it easy to fill every day with something memorable. 

One thing to keep in mind: this is your last chance to enjoy many seasonal favorites, such as our outdoor water parks and other summer-only spots, which will wrap up for the year after this weekend. 

Wet Ink 2025 

August 29 & 30 7:30 PM | Nova Center for the Performing Arts | Free 

Wet Ink is a 24-hour play festival that packs the thrill of theatre into one whirlwind weekend. Friday night kicks off with improv games from Projectile Comedy and open auditions, where everyone gets cast, followed by the announcement of writers and directors, random actor assignments, and overnight scriptwriting based on audience prompts. Saturday morning, directors and actors dive into rehearsals, and by that evening, brand-new one-act plays hit the stage. Writers, directors, actors, and volunteers are all welcome. Whether you come to create, perform, or help with props, costumes, and behind-the-scenes magic. 

Burn the Point Classic Car Show 

August 29–30 | Downtown Billings & Henry’s Garage 

Burn the Point celebrates classic American car culture with a two-day event that begins Friday at 6:00 PM, when more than 500 vintage cars parade down 3rd Avenue North, announced live by Kurt Anthony and Major Dan Miller, followed by a street dance and live music. Saturday’s action moves to Henry’s Garage, where nearly 300 classic cars and trucks are on display starting at 10:00 AM for just $5 admission, along with food vendors, music, over 100 sponsor-judged trophies, and a Swap Meet and Car Corral full of rare finds.  

Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market 

Every Saturday through October 4 from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM | Downtown Billings 

A Saturday tradition since 1985, the Yellowstone Valley Farmers Market features a 50/50 mix of growers and food vendors, with nearly all goods sourced within 120 miles. Shoppers can expect fresh produce, meat, baked goods, and ready-to-eat favorites, like egg rolls and crepes, while visiting with local farmers and artisans, some of whom have been part of the market for almost 40 years. It’s a lively downtown gathering spot with a mission to support local growers and create community. 

The Florida Project – 10th Anniversary Screening 

August 31 at 6:00 PM | Art House Cinema & Pub | $9 

Art House Billings continues its tenth-anniversary celebration with a special screening of Sean Baker’s acclaimed 2017 drama, The Florida Project, a heartfelt, and realistic look at childhood resilience and imagination in the face of hardship. The film follows six-year-old Mooney, her friends, and her struggling mother as they navigate life in a motel on the edge of “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” with the caring hotel manager shielding the children from life’s harshest realities. 

Labor Day Arts Fair 

September 1 from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM | Lions Park, Red Lodge | Free 

The 46th Annual Labor Day Arts Fair in Red Lodge, voted Best of Montana Art Show in Distinctly Montana, brings 80 booths of fine art and crafts to Lions Park for a day of shopping, meeting artisans, and enjoying live performances at the gazebo, including Zumba, belly dancing, and art demonstrations. Food trucks like Tup Tim Thai, OPA Grill, and Unicorn Kettle Korn, along with sweet treats such as caramel apples, chocolate, and ice cream, make it a delicious way to wrap up summer. Rain or shine, it’s a short, scenic drive from Billings and a perfect holiday Monday outing.
