Saturday, November 16th, we will be putting on one special screening Alonso Ruizpalacios's chaotic kitchen drama, LA COCINA! Exquisitely shot in black and white while full of striking cinematography, LA COCINA is a window into the world of multiculturalism within the United States as well as a critique on the state of American capitalism, thoughtfully told through the metaphorical use of an exhausted staff in a crowded kitchen. Pedro and Julia have a complicated relationship together while working as coworkers at The Grill, a New York tourist trap restaurant capable of serving thousands of customers over the course of a day. However, money has gone missing from the restaurant, and now all of the employees are being questioned, resulting in a snowballing effect of tension, anger, fear, and hysteria.
