All month long, we will be putting on our annual MUSICAL MAY series at the historic Babcock Theatre, and one of the many memorable films we will be playing is Randal Kleiser's terrific 1978 retro musical, GREASE! One of the all-time greats of classic musicals, GREASE is a roaring, romantic love letter to the fast fifties and the mid-century greaser's counterculture lifestyle! Beautifully shot with a nostalgic warmth and full of memorable characters singing some of the catchiest tunes to ever be put in a musical, GREASE is an unforgettable story of turbulent youth from days gone by that'll take you back to those lovely "summer.... niiiiiiiighhhiiiiiiiiights!" (see what I did there?)
Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta star as Sandy and Danny, an Australian good girl and a rebellious greaser. Sandy and Danny fall in love during the summer and don't expect to see each other afterwards, but when school starts again, they find out that Sandy will be attending the same school as Danny. The two of them hope to be able to rekindle their summer love, but both of them have eccentric friends who don't believe it can work out due to their different social classes.
