Shaping Our Future: Local Government Review

Apr 30, 2024, 6:00 PM

Every 10 years, the Montana Constitution gives voters a say in how their local government is structured. 2024 is one of these years, and voters will be asked in June if they want to establish a Local Government Review Commission. A commission would be tasked with evaluating the effectiveness of our current county or city government in meeting the needs of residents. On April 30th, Yellowstone Valley Citizens Council is hosting an informational panel answering questions like: 1) The strengths and weaknesses of our current local government and 2) Potential benefits and drawbacks of establishing a Local Government Review Commission. We will conclude with a question and answer period. Our panel consists of: Kathleen Gilluly, Retired Editor/Publisher at The Laurel Outlook Don Jones, Yellowstone County Commissioner Kendra Shaw, Billings City Councilmember Chuck Tooley, Former Billings Mayor We hope you join us for this free informational event!
