In my May Clay class come and join me for Sgrafitto. Say what?

Sgrafitto is so much fun and much easier than you may think. Sgrafitto is an Italian glazing process in which you applying to an unfired ceramic dish, two successive layers of contrasting glaze, and then use tools to scratching to reveal parts of the underlying layer. In this class you will make a plate from a slab of clay and then while it is still wet add first white and then two layers of a contrasting color. I will have 4 colors to choose from.

Then using Sgrafitto tools you can scratch a design into your plate. You can have any design, geometric, floral, landscape or even a doodle.

Bring a design you like or we can come up with a design in class.

Sgrafitto is actually very relaxing. You can get in a zone and use your creativity. You’ll love to show your friends this unusual art form.
