"The Mikado (sort of)" at the NOVA Center for Performing Arts

The Mikado (sort of) is based on the Gilbert and Sullivan production of the same name. This re-imagining takes place in a galaxy far, far, away. Nanki-Who, son of The Mikado (potentate of the planet Mars-apan), fled his father's imperial court to escape a forced marriage with Katisha, a not-so-attractive, elderly robot. Nanki-Who met and fell in love with Hum-Hum, a lovely young woman with two protective sisters. Hum-Hum, however, was already betrothed to her overlord, Koko, which forced Nanki-Who to contemplate leaving Zuzu-who once again, in despair.

The production is a brightly colored event filled with young actors and singers wearing creative and imaginative costumes made from "found objects"!
