Phase 1 of Billings Last Diet is all about kicking your body into ketosis mode. To do that your body needs to go through some sort of hard core nutritional cleanse. It’s not bad for the most part… other than feeling like your dying, keto flu, achy, headaches, starving, cravings… but that’s not even the worst part. Wanna know what is?
The. Vegetables.
I thought I liked broccoli, but turns out only with ranch or velveeta cheese. I thought I liked celery, but turns out only with chunky peanut butter and honey.
For Phase 1 you have to have 4 cups of select veggies a day. What are the select vegetables?
Alfalfa, asparagus, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, bell peppers, broccoli, cabbage (all), cauliflower, celeriac, celery, chayote, chicory, collards, cucumbers, dill pickles, fennel, Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli), green onions, jicama, kale, kohlrabi, mushrooms, okra, onions (raw only), hot peppers, radish, rhubarb, sauerkraut, spinach, Swiss chard, turnip, zucchini/yellow summer squash.
All things that taste best with RANCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I’m being a little dramatic (shocker, I know). A lot of these are actually very good when grilled or sauteed. But it got old for me like really fast (three days in). That’s when someone suggested blending spinach in with my morning shakes! At first I puked in my mouth a little bit but was told Spinach actually enhances the sweetness and you can’t even taste it.
So I figured I’d give it a shot, anything to switch up this vegetable routine I had going.
And you guys…. It works… you can’t taste it at all and if you do 2 cups of spinach with 1 shake you’re half way done already!!! And not to mention almost all of the shakes taste AMAZING!
So Here’s What you Do:
ENJOY! For my second week I’m doing a Shake with 2 cups of Spinach in the morning and the same thing for lunch! Then for dinner I can enjoy some protein and a yummy IP snack!
For Phase one you have to have 3 IP Packets a day, 4 cups of the select veggies on the BLD list, 64oz of water, and 8oz of protein, 1tsp Salt, and 2 tsp of oil.
