Today, 1 in 5 youth ages 6-19 are obese and the problem worsens as kids get older, as nearly one-third of high school students are overweight. Almost three-quarters of high school students don’t get the recommended daily hour of physical activity. The importance of health and wellness for kids’ success in all aspects of life cannot be underestimated. By giving kids a safe, healthy and engaging place to turn to when school’s out, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County is helping to set them up with healthy habits for life.

Over 30% of Club girls ages 12 to 15 are physically active every day, compared with 23% of girls in the same age range nationally. And, 80% of Club alumni say the Club has had a positive impact on their attitude toward fitness and health. Boys and Girls Club programs help develop fitness, a positive use of leisure time, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills. The Club also provides kids with healthy meals and snacks.

By providing a pathway to health as well as opportunities for education development, creative exploration and community service, the Boys and Girls Club is helping future generations to realize their full potential.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County is grateful for everyone who supports our mission to help kids reach their full potential.
