Book Discussion: Voices from Yellowstone's Capstone: A Narrative Atlas of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness

This House of Books hosts author Ed Kemmick and editors Jesse Logan and Traute Parrie, as they discuss Voices from Yellowstone's Capstone: A Narrative Atlas of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The book is a fundraiser for the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Foundation.

Although the book is an “atlas,” it is not a guidebook. Instead, in the way wilderness users explore physical trails on the landscape, readers are invited to explore the intellectual trails of the atlas. The book is made up of 28 engaging essays paired with richly illustrated maps. Readers will come away understanding not only the importance of designated wilderness and public lands, but the interconnectedness of humans and wild places over time. The intention of this atlas is to reflect that visceral need for humans to be engaged with the natural world, throughout time.
