Author Event: Roger Dunsmore @ This House of Books
In our continuing celebration of poetry month, we welcome Roger Dunsmore who will read from his recently published book of a lifetime of poems, lead a brief discussion, and answer questions. The event takes place on Friday, April 12, 2019, beginning at 5:30.
Roger Dunsmore firmly believes " poetry is our birthright. It's as old as song. It's all over the world," He says "poetry needs to be shared beyond formal education. It needs to be brought to life." To this end, he spent more than a year after his retirement stapling poems to utility poles in his community. Now, thanks to a grant from Corby Skinner, he will be in Billings at This House of Books, spreading poetry as a form of spiritual practice.
Roger Dunmore is described as "one of the finest poets of the Great Subculture." His poetry is said to be " informed by the lyric past of ancient Greece and the visionary traditions of ancient America as expressed by the Sioux visionary Black Elk."
His new volume, published by the Drumlummon Institute, is titled On the Chinese Wall: New & Selected Poems, 1966-2017. Following the presentation, he will be available to sign copies of his book.
