Author Event: Annie Hanshew @ This House of Books

In an event co-sponsored by the Women's & Gender Studies Center at MSUB, Annie Hanshew will be at This House of Books on Monday, April 8th 5:30-7pm to speak about the stories of the women who shaped Montana, especially as told through their quilts.

After a brief reading and presentation about her book, Border to Border: Historic Quilts and Quiltmakers of Montana, Annie will answer questions and be available to sign books.

Annie specializes in the history of women in the Rocky Mountain West, and her book tracing Montana history through its quilt and quiltmakers remains popular a decade after original publication. She also researched and wrote many of the entries in Beyond Schoolmarms and Madams: Montana Women's Stories.

After graduating from Helena High School, Annie remained in Helena for college, receiving her bachelor's degree in history and political science from Carroll College. Following graduate work in American history at the University of Utah, where she earned a master's degree, she returned to Montana and has been researching and writing about our unique part of the world since.
