James Webb Telescope Lecture

nov 12, 2022 at 3:00 PM

The Yellowstone Valley Astronomy Association is excited to announce that club activities, events, in-person meetings, and education are starting in Billings after a few years of inactivity. In fact, we have planned several upcoming events!

We invite you to come join us for the first event of our Fall Lecture Series on Saturday, November 12th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Billings Public Library Community Room. This will immediately be followed by a short YVAA club meeting. We hope that you'll stick around to hear about the club and what our upcoming club activities are so you can join in on the fun. Depending on the weather, we will have solar telescopes out for safely viewing the sun.

We have invited a guest speaker to come and give us an update on the James Webb Space Telescope. NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Lynn Powers will give a brief overview of the mission then dive into some of the photos that are being released by NASA. She will discuss details of what the instruments are seeing, and why this telescope is going to change how we think about the universe. She will give us resources so we can continue to follow future image releases.

This event is free and open to the public, we hope to see you there. You can watch for more information about our upcoming events, including our December Lecture on the Aurora, by following us on Facebook and Instagram. Hope to see you there!
