Rodgers & Hammerstein: 80th Anniversary Tribute
Feb 10-19, 2023 at Various Dates & Times
Composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein ll began working together in 1943, after both had had success with other partners. Their first collaboration was "Oklahoma" (1943) and was perceived as an entirely new way to present musicals. R&H, as they came to be known, went on to bring to the Broadway stage "Carousel" (1945), the lesser recognized "Allegro" (1947), "South Pacific" (1949), "The King and I" (1951), another lesser known musical "Me and Juliet" (1953), "Flower Drum Song" (1958), and their last stage production "The Sound of Music" (1959). Besides the stage productions, Rodgers and Hammerstein also worked together on the cinematic film "State Fair" (1945) and the TV production of "Cinderella" (1957).
