The WHC is hosting the region's only stop for the national touring exhibit, "Away from Home: American Indian Boarding School Stories," a ground breaking deep-dive into the experience of students at off-reservation boarding schools, finally told from their own perspective. The exhibit includes artifacts like the barber's chair and clothing worn by children, in addition to photographs, journal entries, and oral histories. Museum admission and all associated lectures will be free during this time (Apr 9 - May 24). Groups may schedule free self-guided tours (Mondays are preferred, but other times are available), please call 406-256-6809. The museum's normal hours will still be Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm. ADA Accessible. Also on display is the photography of Richard Throssel, a Metis man who became a Crow citizen and member of the Montana Legislature, and the career retrospective of Larry Mayer, international photojournalist and Billings Gazette staff member, including iconic aerial images and a hands-on flight simulator.
