Our spooky October series,the UNIVERSAL MONSTER MASH continues at the historic Babcock Theatre Thursday, October 17th, with the a special screening of the third film in our series, that being Tod Browning's legendary 1931 vampire classic, DRACULA! Arguably the earliest horror talkie of significant importance, DRACULA is a screen adaptation of the stage play inspired by Bram Stoker's original novel starring Bela Lugosi in the breakthrough role that is responsible for reshaping the modern vampire into the sleek and seductive horror icon that it has become since this film's widespread success 93 years ago! When British estate agent Renfield is sent to Transylvania to help the mysterious Count Dracula, who plans to move away from his crumbling castle in the Carpathian mountains. Despite the warnings of the frightened and superstitious locals, Renfield proceeds to castle Dracula, and is ultimately made into the vampire's slave. As the pair sail to London, Dracula plans to assimilate himself in the society of socialites in search of human blood, resulting in the sinister duo piquing the interest of supernatural scholar Professor Abraham Van Helsing!
