A Fall Adventure Up the Beartooth Highway

Looking for a fun little day getaway not far from Billings to enjoy the fall weather before winter hits?  Take a drive up the Beartooth Highway and spend some time outside enjoying this special time of year in the mountains.  Be sure to grab your coffee from Black Dog and head out to spend some time in the quiet and beautiful areas not far from us.  Just always be aware that the weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared and know that the Beartooth Pass will be closed as soon as the snow starts falling and piling up.

Take the time to enjoy the fall colors, stop at some of the pull-out areas and explore!  Just keep in mind that in addition to a jacket/coat, you should always be prepared for wildlife and never go on the walking or hiking paths without bear spray.

Bring a picnic lunch with you, or stop in Red Lodge for some food! A favorite (that's open year-round) is the candy shop that specializes in the fudge and other house-made goodies. If you don't want to head all of the way up the mountain pass, there are a lot of great areas to stop around the campgrounds and rock creek.
